The narrow alleys eventually lead you to the water front. Stone Town being on the western coast of the island gives you spectacular views of the sunset skies over the Indian Ocean.
Towards evening, locals and tourists all make their way to Forodhani Gardens, a small garden along the sea walk. Most shops in town close by 6.00pm and people move towards the water front. Crowds gather in the main square of the garden which transforms into a night food street market.
The place comes alive in the evenings with a number of stalls offering Zanzibari and Swahili cuisine. For vegetarians, the Zanzibar Pizza (not to be mistaken with the `regular’ pizza) is worth a try!
